Local Nature Conservation Sites (LNCS)
Key Findings
Comprising of both Local Biodiversity Sites (LBS) and Local Geodiversity Sites (LGS), LNCSs are areas of local importance for ecological, educational and social purposes (NatureScot, 2024 a). Local Biodiversity Sites may be selected due to their diversity, rarity, naturalness, or connectivity between habitats, while Local Geodiversity Sites may be selected due to their historical, cultural, educational, aesthetic or scientific importance. (NatureScot, 2024 b).
