Qualification Level on East Grampian Coast and 
Scotland, 2022

Key Findings

Between 2001 and 2022, those with qualifications at level 4 (Further Education) or above have increased markedly (Fig.1). In contrast, those with no qualification or at level 1 (Lower School) or level 2 (Upper School) have decreased steadily. Those at level 3 (Apprentice) have remained relatively stable.

Compared to the Scottish average, a higher proportion of East Grampian residents have no qualification and a lower proportion have a degree level qualification (Fig.2).

These figures have been taken from census records relating to selected coastal wards.

Level 1 = Lower School

Level 2 = Upper School

Level 3 = Apprentice

Level 4 = Further Education, in Fig. 1 this also includes degree level.
