Salmon Scotland

Key Findings

Role:

Salmon Scotland is the key trade association and representative body for the Scottish salmon farming sector. It acts as the trusted voice of the industry, speaking on behalf of salmon producers and companies across the wider supply chain, both domestically and internationally. The organisation represents members on policy, regulatory, and market issues, helping to promote Scottish salmon as the UK’s number one food export and supporting long-term sustainable growth.

Responsibilities:

Salmon Scotland engages in advocacy and communications with government bodies (such as the Scottish Parliament and UK regulators), industry partners, and the public. Its work includes policy analysis, shaping legislative frameworks, fostering sustainable practices across the sector, and improving understanding of the economic and environmental importance of salmon farming. The organisation also supports community engagement, sector insight, and links between producers and the broader economy.
