Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Aberdeen & District Local Group
Key Findings
Role:
The RSPB Aberdeen & District Local Group is a volunteer-led branch of the RSBP, dedicated to promoting birdwatching, appreciation of nature, and conservation in the Aberdeen area. Operating as part of the wider RSPB network, the local group aims to connect people with birds and wildlife, fostering community involvement in nature observation and conservation activities.
Responsibilities:
The group organises regular indoor talks, field visits, guided walks, and social events that bring together local bird enthusiasts of all experience levels. It supports RSPB’s broader mission by raising awareness of bird conservation issues, encouraging citizen science participation, and creating opportunities for volunteers to engage in local monitoring and habitat-focused activities. The group also collaborates with partners on local projects and supports RSPB campaigns by sharing information and encouraging public engagement.
